Find Any File - 2.0 (b2) - Find any file on your disk, even those hidden. Fast and accurate.

Find any file on your disk, even those hidden. Fast and accurate.

• Have you ever lost a file whose name partially remember, now hidden somewhere in your album?
• Need to see what files have changed in the last 2 minutes?
• Need to find the largest files on your disk?

Find Any File (FAF) is the perfect utility for these tasks.

You can even search on disks that are not indexed by Spotlight, including volumes on servers.

Find Any File can find files that Spotlight can not, for example, those within packages or system folders that are usually excluded from Spotlight search.

Unlike Spotlight, does not use a database but seeks directly to disk. This allows search properties such as name, creation and modification dates and size. Although not the text within files, but see the note below.

Another useful feature is the structural view of results (see the screenshot). It lets you view the items found within their respective folders, making it much easier to move from hundreds of items found.

Finally, it is fast. Not always as fast as Spotlight, but it usually takes only a few seconds to locate all searched items on a disc.

Note ••• •••
FAF does not search content – for that just use Spotlight (the results can be improved with Tembo, also available in this store).
Also, check EasyFind, a free alternative to Find Any File, you can look inside to search for text files. It has a very different interface you may prefer over the dated look of FAF.

••• What users say about FAF •••
“where Spotlight FAF will not be easily reached. Not only that, the results are displayed as nicely in the hierarchy of the Finder view (rotating triangles) or as a simple list with sortable columns for name, size, type and date modified .. ”
“As a manager of more than 50 school Mac, sometimes I feel the need to find a file lost by a novice, or while looking problems in a system. Sometimes I need to find obscure system files. Find Any File is in my arsenal of profits when things are lost files or folders. ”
” I use it when I want to find a specific file type or to view and delete duplicate files or compare redundant. I use probably about 4 or 5 times a week. ”
” I keep FAF as an icon on the toolbar of each Finder window. When I have to look for something, use the Finder instead FAF. ”

  • CAN NOT DOWNLOAD: Some probably encounter the following error: This site can’t be reached’s server IP address could not be found. DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN. In this case, please use Google DNS and you will get rid of trouble.
  • If downloaded file can not be extracted (file corrupted...), please make sure you have downloaded the file completely and don't use Winzip, it sucks! We would recommend using The Unarchiver.
  • By reason, the App does not work and can not be opened. Mostly, just Disable the Gatekeeper, and you get rid of troubles.
