Mail Detective - 1.3 - Detect scam email by tracing their geographic origin

Mail Detective helps you decide if that email you got in your inbox is valid or scam by trying to trace the geographic origin of an email. Simply drag an email message from your mail client onto Mail Detective’s window or app icon and the app shows you the country and — if possible — the city this message was sent from. If your mail client does not support drag and drop of mail messages, you can use the built-in system service or copy and paste raw message source text into the app.

Mail clients known to support drag and drop email messages:

  • Airmail
  • Apple Mail
  • Mail Pilot
  • Outlook 2011
  • Postbox

Mail clients capable of displaying raw message source text:

  • Thunderbird
  • Unibox

WHAT’S NEW

Version 1.3:

  • Dragging messages onto the app window now works more reliably.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Intel, 64-bit processor
  • OS X 10.9 or later

  • CAN NOT DOWNLOAD: Some probably encounter the following error: This site can’t be reached ...sundryfiles.com’s server IP address could not be found. DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN. In this case, please use Google DNS and you will get rid of trouble.
  • If downloaded file can not be extracted (file corrupted...), please make sure you have downloaded the file completely and don't use Winzip, it sucks! We would recommend using The Unarchiver.
  • By reason, the App does not work and can not be opened. Mostly, just Disable the Gatekeeper, and you get rid of troubles.
